Where it comes from

Every Idun Sauna product is hand-built by our dedicated material storage and assembly partner. They have crafted high-quality timber structures for over three decades, working with the same northern spruce and thermo-treated aspen that have weathered Nordic winters for centuries.

The timber building tradition runs deep. These forests sit within the boreal belt, and their craftsmen have worked with wood for as long as the sauna itself has existed. The barrel sauna, the form that defines much of our range, was shaped by this northern heritage and Finnish design choices.

Before your sauna leaves the workshop, it is inspected by the same craftsmen who built it. Joints are checked by hand. Hardware is tested. Dimensions are verified against your order specification. The structure is then crated for freight and handed to our logistics partner for the journey to you.

Lead times

All products are built to order. The lead time begins from the date your deposit clears, not from the date of your order. The table below shows production time plus the transit window from our workshop to your delivery address.

Product typeProductionTransit
Barrel saunas6–10 weeks3–7 business days
Hot tubs4–8 weeks3–7 business days
Cold plunge units4–6 weeks3–5 business days
Sauna heaters2–4 weeks2–4 business days
Bespoke & customQuoted per project3–7 business days

These are estimates. Our partner builds every product by hand and never rushes production at the expense of quality. If your order is time-sensitive contact us early so we can plan accordingly together.

Peak season note: Lead times extend by 1–2 weeks for orders placed between November and January, and in June and July, when demand across the market is highest. If you are ordering for summer, we recommend placing your order before April.

White-glove delivery option

We use specialist freight carriers who handle oversized, high-value timber structures as their core business. Your sauna will not travel in a general cargo truck alongside pallets of consumer goods.

White-glove delivery option includes:

  • Two-person delivery team trained in handling large timber structures
  • Offloading from the vehicle using a tail-lift or pallet truck
  • Movement of the crated structure to your nominated ground-floor outdoor location
  • Removal and disposal of all transit packaging
  • A short handover conversation covering the next steps for assembly or installation

GOOD TO NOTE: White-glove delivery does not include full assembly, installation, electrical connection, or placement beyond a reasonable location. If you need the structure placed on a raised deck, rooftop terrace, or through a narrow passage, discuss this with us before ordering. We can quote for extended placement services on a per-project basis.

Our logistics partner will contact you by phone and email at least 5 business days before delivery to agree a date and time window. Someone must be present at the delivery address to sign for the goods. If you need to reschedule after a delivery date has been confirmed, notify us as soon as possible. A second delivery attempt may incur a rebooking fee.

Preparing your site

A sauna can weigh between 300 and 1500 kg depending on size. Your foundation must be ready before delivery day, we cannot hold a delivery while groundwork is completed.

Foundation requirements:

  • A level, load-bearing surface: concrete pad, compacted gravel, or interlocking paving at minimum
  • Dimensions at least 30 cm wider and deeper than the footprint of your product on all sides
  • No slope greater than 1% across the foundation footprint
  • The surface must be complete and fully cured before the delivery date

Access requirements:

  • Road access suitable for a standard freight vehicle: minimum 3.5 m road width and 4 m overhead clearance
  • Any gates, barriers, or bollards must be open and unlocked on delivery day
  • If access is through a building or over a narrow path, inform us in advance so we can assess the route
  • Garden surfaces (lawn, gravel, decking) must be firm enough to take the weight of a pallet truck

If your sauna includes an electric heater, have a licensed electrician prepare the appropriate connection point before delivery. The specific supply requirements (voltage, amperage, cable rating) are listed on each product page. Your electrician must complete the final connection, we do not provide electrical installation.

If your site is not ready on delivery day and the delivery cannot proceed, storage costs and a rebooking fee will apply.

Damage in transit

Despite careful crating and specialist freight handling, transit damage can occasionally occur. If your delivery arrives with visible damage to the packaging or the structure:

  • Note the damage on the delivery documentation before signing, write specifically what is damaged, not just "damaged"
  • Photograph all damage before the delivery team leaves, packaging, crating, and the affected part of the product
  • Do not refuse the delivery unless the damage makes the product entirely unusable. Accepting delivery with noted damage preserves your claim more cleanly than a refusal
  • Contact us at the email address below within 48 hours of delivery with your photographs and order number contact@idunsauna.com

We cannot process transit damage claims reported more than 48 hours after delivery, as our carrier's insurance policy requires prompt notification. If you discover concealed damage during assembly, contact us immediately and do not continue assembly until we have assessed the situation.

Valid transit damage claims will be resolved by component replacement, repair, or in rare cases full replacement of the unit, at our cost. We will not ask you to return a full sauna at your expense.

Customs & duties

Our workshop is located within the European Union. All deliveries to Sweden, Germany, Finland, and Denmark move freely within the EU single market. There are no customs duties, import tariffs, or border checks for deliveries.

VAT is applied at the checkout rate applicable in your country of delivery. For Swedish and Finnish customers, VAT is charged at 25% and 24% respectively. For German and Danish customers, VAT is charged at 19% and 25% respectively. VAT amounts are shown clearly at checkout before payment.

For deliveries outside the EU (Norway, Switzerland, the UK, or other countries on special request), customs duties and import VAT will apply at the rate in force in the destination country. These costs are the buyer's responsibility. We will inform you of the estimated duty costs before confirming any non-EU order.
